Pipe Band and Solo
Grade 1 to 5 Pipe Bands have been invited to compete at Kingsville-Essex Highland Games for 2024 meaning the potential exists to see a large and accomplished field of competitors. Solo piping and drumming competitions will also be open to Grades 1 to 5.

Kingsville was delighted to be the first Highland Games in Ontario to offer Quartet competitions last year and they will be returning in 2024. 4 pipers from a registered pipe band compete together in the grade category of their pipe band.    To register please visit https://www.pipebandsontario.org/

Highland Dancing Competition

Highland Dancing is one of the cornerstone events at Highland Games throughout the world. Kingsville-Essex Highland Games Highland Dance competitions will be overseen by the Windsor & District Highland Dancing Association starting at 8am.
Dancers will compete in various age categories demonstrating a mastery of the four basic Highland dances, namely, the Highland Fling, the Sword Dance, Seann Truibhas (pronounced ‘shawn trewes’), and the reel—all of which are performed in the traditional kilt.

Scottish Athletic Heavy Events Competition

The Scottish Athletic Heavy Events Competition will take place on the Main Field under the guidelines of the Canadian Scottish Athletic Federation. Male and female athletes will compete in various events that will include the world-famous caber toss along with weights for height and distance.

Tug of War

The Tug of War competition will be returning to the Kingsville-Essex Highland Games in 2024 and will take place throughout the day on the main field. This year there will be 4 Divisions of Competition: Male; Female; and High School Male and High School Female; with on-field teams of up to 8 participants. Teams will compete against each other in this exciting test of strength for both bragging rights and prizes.

5K Run/Walk


The run will take place on the trails throughout the beautiful Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village. To celebrate Scottish and Celtic culture 5k-ers are welcome to wear their favourite kilt or tartan or plaid clothing! (WEARING A KILT IS NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE)
Included in your entry fee of $50 [until May 29th] is a t-shirt, finisher's gift, food at the finish line and free entry (value $25) to all the events happening that day.
Race start 8:30 a.m.
There will be race day registration: 7:30-8:15 a.m.
No dogs or strollers allowed during the run please.
